Utilities use several indices to measure system reliability. Two of the most common indices are System Average Interruption Duration Index(SAIDI) and System Average Interruption Frequency Index(SAIFI). These two indices signify the total outage minutes and number of power outages the average customer will experience for a particular calendar year.

NOTE:
SAIDI is an industry measurement for the annual outage minutes experienced by an utility's customers. Lower numbers indicate better performance from the utility.

NOTE:
SAIFI is an industry measurement representing the average number of power outages a customer will experience each year. Lower numbers indicate better performance from the utility.
The graphs above represent REU's 2009 SAIDI and SAIFI numbers as compared to four of California municipal electric utilities and the three largest investor-owned utilities in California. These graphs clearly show REU's excellent system reliability. In fact, REU customers experience less than half the power outages and less than one-third the outage minutes than customers served by PG&E.
This comparison of REU's system shows just one of the many benefits REU provides its customers. The graphs clearly indicate the high level of reliability and REU's ongoing customer focus.
